I've been completely absorbed in revising my new book. My favorite revision is the first one. It can get messy pulling apart the story and adding to the plot, but I love being able to watch the book grow. The first draft follows one character's storyline, and I felt like that wasn't enough. I decided to add in a second character's story, and I already love it.
I love being so involved in a story that the writing comes easy. It's doesn't always. I definitely appreciate when things are flowing. It does make it difficult to keep up with a blog, though. I don't want to spend time working on anything else.
I'm hoping that after this major overhaul I will be able to show it to a couple close friends for their editing and thoughts. I want to do this earlier in the process this time and see how it goes. I've learned a lot from self-publishing Do You Remember Ella?, and I want to try some things differently this time. More external input is one of them. I'm too close to the story to see all the flaws. Fresh eyes and a trusted opinion will definitely help.
I want to always be working to better my writing. I want to try to learn from every experience and try to improve each time. I feel like my writing has improved and hopefully will continue to do so. Growth mindset, baby!!!
