It's been a month since I posted anything. A busy month. I'm in the middle of revising the new book. I'm trying to get some work done on it every day. I've been mostly successful. Some days are better than others. Some days are too busy. Things are going to get even busier, so I am trying to focus on getting it done every day. I'm scheduling my writing time. I need to find more of it.
I'm still happy with my book. I'm at the point in revising when I start to doubt everything I've written. I'm trying not to do it this time. I like this book. I can't start doubting myself now.
Once this revision is complete, I'm going to have a few people read it and give me notes. New eyes can always find mistakes I've overlooked. I'm actually excited for people to read this one. Usually, I am nervous and assume anything I write will be hated, but I feel good about this one. I think people might like it.
If you like editing and want to get an early look at my next book, contact me. I am looking for 2-5 beta readers to provide notes and general impressions of the book. I'd really appreciate the help!
I've finally finished the final edit on Do You Remember Ella?, and it feels good. I've spent a long time on this story, and I am satisfied with the result. I made quite a few changes during this last edit, and the book has definitely improved.
The more I worked on the tiny details, the more I began to think that I was looking at the wrong market. The book's main character is a teenager, but I don't think that is enough to qualify it as YA fiction. It's a horror novel. I'm not surprised. Horror has always been my favorite genre. I've changed the way I'm going to market the book, and I've also changed the cover. Overall, I am very happy with the result.
I'm happy to be on schedule for the December 6th release. I'm excited to get the book out there!
Somehow, all of my most time-consuming projects happen in November. One of my busiest months in the entire year. Right now I am balancing three shows (two of which go up in December), and I am doing the final edit on my book. The other books have been put on the back burner for now.
Editing is going slow. I've set editing goals, but I haven't been completely successful in meeting them. Because I am self-publishing, I can push back my release date, but I really don't want to. I want it out before the end of the year. The release date is a nice way to keep the project at the forefront of my to-do list. It keeps me focused. Sort of. I'm procrastinating right now, but at least I feel an urgency to get back to it ASAP.
I do like being busy. Not all the time, but I like the occasional three months of creative craziness. I can't really complain when all of my work involves using my creativity in numerous ways. I believe that you have to exercise your creativity like a muscle to keep it strong and flowing. I never enjoy having a lull in projects. Luckily, I have so many right now that I will be busy until summer, and by then I'll probably have some more.
