I've finally finished the final edit on Do You Remember Ella?, and it feels good. I've spent a long time on this story, and I am satisfied with the result. I made quite a few changes during this last edit, and the book has definitely improved.
The more I worked on the tiny details, the more I began to think that I was looking at the wrong market. The book's main character is a teenager, but I don't think that is enough to qualify it as YA fiction. It's a horror novel. I'm not surprised. Horror has always been my favorite genre. I've changed the way I'm going to market the book, and I've also changed the cover. Overall, I am very happy with the result.
I'm happy to be on schedule for the December 6th release. I'm excited to get the book out there!
My last post was very optimistic. This final edit has taken a long time. I'm being very picky because this is the last chance to catch mistakes and fix things. I'm feeling good about the book. It's almost done, but I still need to order a proof before I can release the book. That takes time, too. I had to push back my release date. Only by a week. I will definitely be ready to release it by December 6th. Sorry if you're waiting for it to come out. This whole process has been a learning experience. I'll have a better idea of the time it takes when I go to release my second book.
I can't wait to get back to the next book. I love Do You Remember Ella, but it is time to be done with it and share it with others. I've been completely focused on it for months now, and I am ready to tackle some of the other projects I have waiting in the wings.
